Susan O’Brien McLean is a Bronxville, New York native who has lived abroad for twenty years exhibiting her work internationally for nearly half that time. While living in England, Susie painted cricket matches, English country gardens and picnics by quiet country streams. Susie has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Pastel Society and the Royal Portrait Society. She has also exhibited at several galleries in the London area.
Susie elected to make Cape Cod her permanent home in 1989. She was elected a Copley Artist by the Copley Society of Boston in 1994. Her work has been included in exhibitions at the Duxbury Art Association, the Cape Museum of Fine Arts, the Cape Cod Art Association and the Cahoon Museum of American Art.
Over the years Susan O’Brien McLean has received many awards, including the Grumbacher Gold Medal in 1997 for excellence in painting. Susie has paintings in the permanent collection of the Cape Museum of Fine Arts. Susan is a prolific painter and for the past twelve years she has painted ‘en plein air” in the Cahoon Museum’s “Brush Off”, the Copley Society’s “Fresh Paint” and the Cape Museum’s annual art auction.
