Carol Monacelli

After graduating from Skidmore College, Carol Monacelli got her start in the world of art as a freelance book designer for many of Boston’s publishing houses. She also became an art director for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich in Orlando, FL and Scholastic in New York City. While in New York, Ms. Monacelli began to paint the public spaces around her including bars, restaurants, and open air markets. She returned to Boston in 1995 and continued to paint the life of the city in its varied neighborhoods. Carol Monacelli has brought her ability to render the unique charm of a place and its people with her as she has traveled around the world. Her vigorous brushstrokes give her paintings vitality and action, as do her vibrant colors. Her paintings represent a rich heritage but are thoroughly modern in their subject.
